• The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) is designed for students aged 3 to 12 years, and focuses on the total growth of a developing child, touching hearts as well as minds and encompassing social, physical, emotional and cultural needs in addition to academic development. The PYP draws on research and best practices from a range of national systems with a wealth of knowledge and experience from international schools to create a relevant, engaging, challenging and significant educational framework for all children.
  • The curriculum framework consists of five essential elements: concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes, action. The knowledge component is developed through inquiries into six trans-disciplinary themes of global significance, supported and balanced by six subject areas- language , arts, mathematics, science and social sciences. The learning environment is child-centered and the curriculum is enriched by a strong reading program, library, learning resources, art, music, physical education, computing and computer education, personal and social development.

  • The curriculum framework is further structured around three interrelated questions.


1. What do we want to learn? The written curriculum.

2. How best will we learn? The taught curriculum.

3. How will we know what we have learned? The assessed curriculum.

The Primary Years Program is concept-driven and has inquiry based learning at the heart. Inquiry is essentially exploring, wondering, questioning, experimenting, researching and elaborating on solutions to problems. It involves the synthesis, analysis and manipulation of knowledge. Classroom teaching and learning practices stimulate curiosity and inquiry in order to foster a spirit of learning.
