International Baccalaureate Curriculum

An IB Education!
The International Baccalaureate is a curriculum inspired by insights of some of the progressive educationists such as John Dewey, A.S Neill, Jean Piaget, and Jerome Bruner. What conspired because of their philosophy and researched-based discoveries was a globally minded education, based on student centered learning and interactive curriculum.
The IB offers the following programmes :
Primary Years Programme (PYP),
Middle Years Programme (MYP),
Diploma Programme (DP).

IB Mission – “The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.”
The four key foundational and interrelated elements that are central to all IB programmes:
1. International-mindedness – International-mindedness is a multifaceted concept that captures a way of thinking, being and acting characterized by an openness to the world and a recognition of our deep interconnectedness to others.
2. The IB learner profile – The IB learner profile places the student at the centre of an IB education with the 10 attributes reflecting holistic nature of the programmes.
3. A broad, balanced, conceptual and connected curriculum.
4. Approaches to teaching and learning – IB’s six approaches to teaching and five approaches to learning play a crucial role in ensuring that the aspirations of an IB education become a reality in the classroom. The approaches are centered on a cycle of inquiry, action and reflection—an interplay of asking, doing and thinking—that informs the daily activities of teachers and learners.

At K.R. Mangalam Global School, we value education that goes beyond academic development. The similarities between the IB mission and our school mission are privy to the fact that we share a common collaborative educational philosophy with an aspiration of creating a community of learners who achieve and contribute positively to the world.
